 Dr. Richards earned her BSN in nursing from the University of Oklahoma before going on to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to earn her MSN


 Dr. Richards earned her PhD from Oklahoma City University before beginning her career at Rogers State University in 2011.  On the subjects of teaching mental health, pet therapy, and human simulation in mental health, she has produced research articles in nursing education.

She presently instructs RN2BSN students online.  Richards also instructs RSU students and nursing faculty on cultural diversity and competency as a recipient of the Bernsen Endowed Professorship.  She has three children, seven grandchildren, is married to James, and also takes care of old horses and pets.
